Farmington Bank: Serving Veterans

Farmington Bank has been the Presenting Sponsor of the Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open since 2012. The bank's support of this important event has helped the "GK" grow and prosper, becoming the premier veterans charity golf event in Connecticut. But sponsorship of the Golden Kielbasa is only one way the bank gives back; the GK recently sat with Farmington Bank Chairman, President and CEO John Patrick to discuss the bank's commitment to its community and Connecticut veterans.

Q: The Farmington Bank slogan is “You’ve come to the right place.” Tell us what that means and about your commitment to service.
A : Farmington Bank’s slogan reflects our mission of helping individuals, businesses, and communities grow and prosper.  We’ve been steadfast in that commitment since our founding in 1851.  At the same time, we’ve been a dedicated community partner through employee volunteerism and financial contributions through our Farmington Bank Community Foundation. We want everyone to feel “You’ve come to the right place” when they enter anyone of our branch office locations in central Connecticut and western Massachusetts. We’re part of the neighborhood, and part of your lives.
Q: Farmington Bank has been the Presenting Sponsor of the Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open for several years now. What are some of the other ways you support veterans?
A: We have gratitude and admiration for all U.S. servicemen and servicewomen who help make our country great. One of the ways Farmington Bank supports veterans is by offering affordable, Veterans Affairs (VA) mortgages to our communities. This type of loan was created to help returning service members, veterans, and eligible spouses purchase homes. Benefits include flexible credit and income guidelines, reduced closing costs, and more. In addition to our long-time sponsorship of the largest golf tournament benefiting veterans, the Golden Kielbasa, the Bank sponsored the 2015 Eternal Flame at the National Iwo Jima Memorial Monument.
Q: Why is meeting the needs of the veterans community so important to Farmington Bank?
A: For those who have served or are continuing to serve our country today, it is our honor to serve them by providing the products and services they need to help reach their financial goals.  In addition, Farmington Bank believes in giving back, and our role as the annual Presenting Sponsor of the Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open is a wonderful way for us to say thank you to Connecticut’s war veterans.
